(f) The Inspector General of Police, Meghalaya. (g) Secretary, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council. (h) Secretary, Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. (i) Secretary, Garo Hills Autonomous District council Non-Official Members:
(j) Shri W.H.D. Syngkon, Addl. Advocate General, Meghalaya. (k) Shri L. Jyrwa, Retired Law Secretary. (l) Smti L. Marbaniang, Retired Deputy Director, Education. Copy of the Notification is annexed. 2. CONSTITUTION OF HIGH COURT LEGAL SERVICES COMMITTEE:
For Gauhati High Court, Shillong Bench, this Committee is provided in the Principal Act namely, the Legal services Authority Act, 1987.
3. Constitution of District Legal Services Committee:

The District Legal Services Committee has been constituted in all the Districts of Meghalaya.
4. FUNCTION OF THE MEGHALAYA STATE LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY:
(1) The function of the Meghalaya State Legal services Authority is to encourage the people from time to time either through the function of the Lok Adalat or Legal Literacy Campaign that every citizen involved in the litigation should avail the programme of Lok Adalat especially on all compoundable offences. (2) The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority is receiving grants from the NALSA and from the State Government, for organizing Lok Adalats, Legal Literary Campaigns and Legal Aid to the poor. (3) The Legal Literacy com-Awareness Campaign and Legal Awareness Works shop was held in 37 different places in various districts of State from 1999 till July 2005. (4) The amount spent for the said purpose is Rupees 4,19,027/- approximately. 5. LOK ADALAT:
Prior to the Constitution of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalat were held by the State Legal Aid Board, and from 1984 to 1997 a total of 17 Lok Adalat were held and 1000 No. of Cases were disposed and there were 134 Legal Aids beneficiaries. After the Constitution of the Meghalaya state Legal Services Authority a total of 30 Lok Adalats were held with effect from 1998 to 2005 (till date) and 3346 cases were disposed off and a total of Rs.5,64,68,014/- (Rupees Five crores sixty four lakhs sixty eight thousand and fourteen) were awarded as Compensation for Motor accident Claim Cases.
