TIMBER PASTE

DESCRIPTION

Construction Chemicals Timber Paste is one of a range of environmental timber treatments especially
formulated for the remedial treatments industry. It provides a means of placing highly effective fungicides
and insecticides in areas where deep penetration of timber is required. Construction Chemicals Timber
Paste is the effective treatment against wood boring insects and fungal attack in timber.
On application Timber Paste forms a skin which prevents solvent evaporation, this action maximizes the
uptake of active ingredient into the timber, pickling of timber is a good description of the amount of
treatment into the timber.
USES
Timber Paste can be used in most in situations, for pre-treatment or in situ remedial treatments. Timber
Paste can be used in the following applications:
1. Large section timbers in old building where deep penetration is required.
2. Pre-treatment of replacement large section timbers.
3. Treatment of timbers embedded in building structures, perils, joists, wall plates.
4. Treatment of timbers subject to damp.
APPLICATION
Apply timber paste with a trowel, brush or application gun. The paste will continue to penetrate the timber
until total saturation is achieved providing the correct loading have been applied.
PACKAGING

10Kg non returnable plastic containers.
COVERAGE
Apply 1Ltr to 1.25 square meters of wood surface.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The product is flammable. Inhalation hazard is low in normal uses but may cause nausea, headaches or
dizziness. Irritating to eyes and skin. Avoid contact with skin by wearing appropriate safety clothing, keep
away from food, drink and animal feed stuffs.
When using do not eat, drink or smoke.
Ensure adequate ventilation when applying.
Unprotected persons or animals should be kept away from area until paste is dry.

2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
The product as supplied contains Permethrin and a blend of Dodecylamine Salicylate and
Dodecylamine Lactate in an oil carrier, with emulsifiers, viscosity modifiers and skinning agents.
OEL for oil carriers = 5mg/m3 (applied as spray mist)
3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Eyes:
Irritant. Symptoms include redness and watering Irritant. Frequent contact can cause dermatitis or Keratosis Irritant to mouth, throat and digestive tract. Aspiration into lungs can cause pulmonary injury Low hazard on normal use. Conditions of poor ventilation can cause nausea, headaches or dizziness
4. FIRST AID MEASURE
Eyes:
Flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. If irritation persists seek medical attention Obtain immediate medical attention. Show label if possible Any symptoms are alleviated by breathing fresh air
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
The carrier oil is inflammable (flash point 130 deg C). Any containers exposed to fire can be cooled
by spraying with water. Use Cox. Dry powder or foam extinguishers. Do not use water jets.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Prevent contamination of watercourses. Contain material with sand, earth or other suitable
absorbent. Do not flush with water. Scoop up and place in a suitable container for safe disposal eg
controlled incineration. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe way.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Keep out of reach of children. Keep in the original container, tightly closed in a safe place. Protect
from frost. Product is flammable.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to
the following items of personal protective equipment.

Dodecylamine Salicylate/Lactate (0.15% w/w) (0.28% w/w)
10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Use only as a wood preservative. Irritating to eyes and skin. To b used only by professional
operators. Flammable . Do not apply in the presence of a naked flame, hot surfaces or unprotected
electrical equipment. Use in a well ventilated area. Ventilate confined spaces thoroughly.
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Remove all foodstuffs, food preparing equipment and eating utensils before application. Do not
apply to surfaces on which food is stored, prepared or eaten. Dangerous to fish, Do not contaminate
ponds, waterways or ditches with the chemical or used containers.
Remove all fish tanks before application. Avoid contact with plant life.
Do not use on beehives or bee-keeping equipment.
Cover storage tanks before application.
Ensure there is a physical barrier to prevent contact by unprotected persons and animals until
treated surfaces are dry.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
All bats are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Before treating any structure
used by bats, the Nature Conservancy Council should be consulted. This product should be handled
and stored as instructed in the Technical Literature and in conformance with Legal Regulations
